When the student is ready the teacher will appear! ~Proverb

As change agents, we use our skills, experience and training to make a difference within individuals, teams, networks, and organizations. We know what it is like to spend time and effort planning, preparing and debriefing around our client interactions. And we know what it is like to have others invest in us in this same way…or do we?

If not, take heart! Here is your chance! For our September 9th chapter meeting (http://www.icf-chicago.org/meetings-events.cfm?id=121) we will have a special guest speaker that has spent the last five months investing her time, talent and expertise on behalf of ICF Chicago. Abby Whitmore, a change management guru and LEAN practitioner (www.leancoaches.com), has donated 50+ hours on behalf of ICFC this year and will be bringing her expertise to share with you on September 9th.

Here is the short list of what Abby has contributed to the ICF Chicago board this year:
Provided an introduction to LEAN principles and what it means to get rid of leadership "waste"
Introduced the concept of Standard Work and walked us through the process of creating Standard Work for each board role to better eliminate leadership "waste"
Walked us through multiple Goal Setting & Planning sessions that helped us identify ICFC’s breakthrough goals for the next 3 years and practical goals for the next 1 year
Spoke at our August 17 board retreat to both board and committee members to guide us to next steps to implement our goals as a team.
To be a "client" and recipient of such generosity is a breath of fresh air.

As a coaching professional, what are you ready to learn? Pay attention because you teacher may be just around the corner!
Stay tuned for more information on ICFC’s goals and current opportunities to participate with other coaches in making a difference in Chicagoland while advancing your professional skills and network at the September 9th chapter meeting. Don’t miss it!!!

See you on the 9th!!

Wendy Balman, CPCC, ACC

ICF Chicago President
